If you're certain you want to buy a new wagon, you have a big decision on your hands. Comparing different models can help you narrow down your choice, and you can see how the 2020 Volvo V90 matches up with the 2020 Subaru Outback.

Power and Performance

Even the base engine in the 2020 Volvo V90 is exceptionally powerful; it's a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder unit that puts out 250 horsepower. The other option is a twin-charged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that will give you 316 horsepower. The 2020 Volvo V90 has great acceleration and a suspension system that soaks up pretty much all road imperfections. It also has very good fuel economy, getting 33 mpg on the highway.

The base 2020 Subaru Outback comes with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that only generates 182 horsepower. You can also opt for the 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit for extra horsepower, but a larger price-tag. The 2020 Subaru Outback has decent power and acceleration, but it can't compete with what the 2020 Volvo V90 offers. It's also lacking in gas mileage, only managing 30 mpg for highway driving.

Tech and Safety

New Volvo cars are some of the most technologically advanced on the market, and every 2020 Volvo V90 comes with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, navigation, a 14-speaker sound system, and the Sensus infotainment system with a nine-inch touchscreen. It also has numerous built-in safety features, including blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, a rearview camera, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2020 Subaru Outback also comes with Apple CarPlayâ„¢ and Android Autoâ„¢ integration, but its base stereo only has four speakers. Its infotainment system has a seven-inch touchscreen, and if you want navigation, you will need to upgrade. As for safety, many of the standard features with the 2020 Volvo V90 - like blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, for example - are only optional with the 2020 Subaru Outback.

This information can tell you a lot about these two vehicles, but you really need to get behind the wheel to make a final decision.
