The 2020 Volvo XC40 Has Come to Seattle

If you're of a certain age, you may remember when SUVs were almost strictly utilitarian, kind of like glorified minivans. Sure, they had a lot of interior space, but they didn't handle particularly well and the fuel economy could be downright bad. Plus, they almost always lacked anything that could be considered luxurious. Thankfully, those days are long gone. Now, you can find SUVs that epitomize luxury without sacrificing any of their function, and the perfect example of this is the brand-new Volvo XC40.

2020 Volvo XC40 Details

Power and Performance

The base engine in the 2020 Volvo XC40 is a turbo charged 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder unit that generates 187 horsepower. You can also upgrade to a 248-horsepower engine, and this is very comparable to the one found under the hood of the base 2019 Volvo XC90. Both engines in the Volvo XC40 are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive is available. This SUV has very good handling and offers a smooth and sporty ride. As for gas mileage, you'll get 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg for highway driving.

Interior

The Volvo XC40 seats five people, and both rows provide a lot of space. Synthetic upholstery is standard, as are a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob and an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat. You can also upgrade to heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable passenger's seat, and leather upholstery. Many new Volvo cars have an assortment of standard tech features, and the Volvo XC40 is one of them. HD and satellite radio, an infotainment system with a 9-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth®, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ integration, and three USB ports come in every model. Navigation, wireless device charging, and a 13-speaker Harman Kardon® premium sound system are all available.

Safety

Many 2019 Volvo vehicles came standard with some of the most advanced safety features, and the 2020 models are following their lead. The new Volvo XC40 comes with traffic sign recognition, road departure mitigation, automatic high beams, and forward collision, to name just a few features. You can also get front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and cornering fog lights.
